Questions before you buy
What you need, how the trial works, what Lane Draft covers and how it keeps up with the guidance. Anything else, ask us.
Getting started
Can I try it before asking for a trial?
Yes. The live demo is the real editor, with no sign-up. Change the layout and speeds, drag signs and export a watermarked PDF. Nothing you do in the demo is saved.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Lane Draft runs in your web browser, so there's nothing to install or update. Sign in at app.lanedraft.com.au from any computer.
What computer and browser do I need?
Any recent Windows or Mac computer with an internet connection and a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. We recommend a laptop or desktop with a screen at least 1280 pixels wide for designing, and a mouse makes moving signs easier. PDFs open in any PDF reader.
How does the free trial work?
Send us the trial request form. We set up your company account within one business day and email you a link to choose your password. You get the full Team plan for 14 days from when your account is ready. No credit card is needed, and nothing is charged unless you choose a plan.
Can my whole team use it?
Yes. Your company account has its own people with roles: owners and admins manage the team, designers create and edit schemes, reviewers check them, and field crews can view them. You invite people by email from the Team page.
Design and standards
Which states does Lane Draft cover?
Victoria, with other states coming. The design values come from the national Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management, but Lane Draft's notes, permit details and road authority fields are written for Victoria. If you work in another state, let us know and we'll tell you when it's ready.
Which edition of the guidance does it use?
AGTTM 2026, published by Austroads. Every value Lane Draft uses shows its part and table reference, so you can check it against your own copy of the guide.
How are updates to the guidance handled?
When Austroads or the Department of Transport and Planning publish changes, we update Lane Draft and tell customers what changed. Each plan records which edition it was designed to.
Does Lane Draft replace an accredited designer?
No. It's a design tool for accredited designers. Every scheme must still be checked against the site and signed off by a suitably accredited traffic management designer, and approval is up to the road authority.
Can I change what Lane Draft places?
Yes. You can move, change, add or remove signs and devices to suit driveways, poles and other site conditions. Lane Draft re-checks each change against the AGTTM spacing and the Part 6 site tolerances, and tells you by how much anything is out.
Which layouts are included?
Shuttle flow, lane closures, shoulder works, lateral shifts, road closures with detours, contraflow, footpath and bicycle lane diversions, T-intersections, crossroads, roundabouts, highway and freeway ramps, mobile works (Part 4) and short term low impact works (Part 5). See every feature.
Output
What export formats are there?
An A3 PDF of the whole plan, with every sheet, a title block, revision history, designed, checked and approved signature boxes, and an optional schedule of design values and device quantities. You can also export any sheet as an SVG (a vector drawing for other drawing software) or a PNG image. Download sample PDFs.
Can I put my company logo on the PDFs?
Your company name is printed in the title block now. Your logo on every PDF is coming soon for Team plans.
Your data
Where is my data kept?
In Australia. Lane Draft is hosted in Victoria, backed up every night, and restores are tested every month. The AI features run on Lane Draft's own hardware, so job details aren't sent to overseas AI services. See our privacy policy.
What happens to my schemes if I stop using Lane Draft?
They're yours. Download them as PDFs at any time, including before you cancel. If we ever stopped offering Lane Draft, we'd give at least 60 days' notice so you can export everything.
What does it cost?
From A$49 a month for one designer, or A$199 a month for a team of four. See pricing.
